Tonight I’ve got a real treat for you, in the form of the long-anticipated trailer for The Life of Chuck, giving us our best look yet at Tom Hiddleston in his role as Chuck – along with a better idea of the film’s overall vibe.
Me? I’m well aware of the vibe, and the fact it’s one of the most moving and wonderful Stephen King stories. In fact, when I first read that Tom Hiddleston would be playing Chuck all those months ago, I got excited, because I knew EXACTLY why Hiddleston would be perfect for the role – his dancing! And luckily, we get to see a tiny tease of that in the trailer below.
But first, for the uninitiated, The Life of Chuck is “the extraordinary story of an ordinary man. This unforgettable, genre-bending tale celebrates the life of Charles ‘Chuck’ Krantz as he experiences the wonder of love, the heartbreak of loss, and the multitudes contained in all of us.”
Directed by Mike Flanagan, the trailer makes it look like it’s going to be just perfect – and one quote apparently calls it the best Stephen King film adaptation ever. That’s some high praise!
King himself has called the film “a happiness machine”. Check out the trailer below:
Well, even watching the trailer has made me emosh, so I’m probably going to be an absolute mess at the cinema. Don’t forget to bring tissues! I also love the following quote from Hiddleston about this movie:
The life of every human being is a constellation, as expressed in this film. There are certain moments which will burn most brightly as individual stars. Sometimes it feels like the world is going to hell in a handcart, and it’s full of pain and suffering, and it is—but there are moments of deep joy and deep connection.
The film also stars Mark Hamill, David Dastmalchian, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Jacob Tremblay, alongside Mia Sara, Trinity Bliss, Harvey Guillen, Rahul Kohli, and Heather Langenkamp.
Well, bring on 30th May, when we’ll all be able to watch The Life of Chuck in cinemas. I doubt anyone is going to want to miss this.
