Avery Alder is crowdfunding on BackerKit, a tabletop RPG called Going for Broke.
The respected game designer is asking for CA$18,000 to fund the game, and we’ve until March 10th to hit the target.

Going for Broke joins The Quiet Year, Monsterhearts, Dream Askew, and Ribbon Drive in Avery’s stable of games and as a light-hearted quirky addition.
What sets the game apart is that it’s designed to be a pick-and-play almost like good sitcoms let you walk into the room during any episode, sit down and just start to watch it.
While the cards can be popped into a sling bag, there are free online rules and digital play.
The game uses a small pack of cards, which include the rules and characters and follows a structure that consists of a row over money, a resolution, and the housemates scraping through to the next money demand.
The easiest points of comparison are probably Fiasco, Star Crossed, or Yazeba’s Bed & Breakfast. All fantastic games that I seriously can’t recommend enough. So what’s the pitch for Going For Broke when those other games already exist? Well, it fits in your back pocket, plays in under an hour, uses premade characters, and is targeted at your millennial friends who are clinging desperately to the notion that they’re still young and cool.

Backers at CA$5 get the Digital + DIY kit to print their cards or use for virtual play.
At CA$15, with shipping to come on top, there’s a copy of the 17-card game.
Backers who step up to $40 get the same, as well as a PDF bundle of Buried Without Ceremony games and a thank you on the webpage.
There’s a higher tier at CA$140, which also unlocks a play session of the game with Avery Alder over Zoom.
Superfans, at CA$500, will be interviewed by the designer, and as a result of that research, the backer will become an exclusive roommate card based on that interview.
