Greg Gillespie is the RPG creator behind megadungeons like the platinum bestseller Barrowmaze, Archaia, HighFell and gold-rated Drarrowdeep. Gillespie says that his 70s era of original gamers, by and large, merged the original Basic D&D with D&D 1e to create and play a hybrid known as .75.
It’s that D&D 0.75 style that the designer wants people to experience and the goal of the newly launched Kickstarter for Dragonslayer.
There’s no link between this Dragonslayer and Paramount’s fantasy Dragonslayer, though the font used for the former did remind me of the latter.
The Dragonslayer TTRPG will be 300-pages long, and Jeff Easley, a well-known ex-TSR art, will do the front cover art.
Greg notes that the Dragonslayer rules will be suitable for almost any TS-era adventure.
DragonslayerTM is brought to you by the OSR — so don’t forget your 10 Foot Pole.
Oh yeah, and be sure to look on the ceiling :)
Backers of the Kickstarter who offer CA$25 or more in support, which’s around £21, will get the PDF edition of Dragonslayer as a thank you. It’ll come via DriveThruRPG.
At CA$85, Dragonslayer supporters will get both the PDF and a print-on-demand and at-cost coupon.
However, Greg’s tiers go higher. At CA$150, there’s an option to get a pick and mix of previous hardcovers and one choice from a more expensive menu for backers at CA$155.
The top tier, CA$450, unlocks 6 Dragonslayer rulebooks, which represents about $10 off each book.
Greg and the Old School Publishing team estimate a March 2024 delivery for the project.
