The Castle of the Mad Archmage is a megadungeon that’s ten years old and has grown. To celebrate, BRW Games is publishing an anniversary and limited edition.
The Kickstarter has hundreds of backers, raised hundreds of times the asking price and live for three weeks.
BRW Games has published some expansions to Castle of the Mad Archmage, some through Patreon and a little more through individual outlets like the One Page Dungeon contest.
This Kickstarter will collect all those bits and pieces into one book and will move the game from the “Adventures Dark and Deep” system used by BRW Games and made suitable for most OSR games.
The contents of the limited edition includes;
- All 13+ core levels from the original published Castle
- The Castle Environs, depicting the lands around the castle ruins
- Level 3-A, the Black Lake
- Level 3 East, the Museum and the Watery Caves
- Level 4 South, the Gardens
- Level 9 West, the Brumal Realm
BRW Games will limit the book to only two copies for each backer.
A digital copy of the Anniversary Edition is a reward for backers at $20.
It’s a big step up for backers in the USA, but the unsigned book will be available at the $75 tier.
The combo print and digital copy is the reward at $100; this time, the print copy is signed and numbered.
If you fancy taking that limit of two books per backer, that’s at the $190 tier, which is about £150.
Although the book is already written, BRW Games estimates delivery in March 2024. The money and time are for art, editing and layout.
