Zombies vs Mutants: Animated timeline of nuclear explosions

Just the other day I was thinking about the quirks of running a post apocalyptic RPG. These days the fashionable echoes of the apocalypse tend to be zombies. Zombies that shadow our own death and current cultural concerns about bio-engineering.

Roll back a few years and the post apocalytic scenarios tended to be nuclear in nature. You’d have wide spread physical destruction and mutants.

I ponderered whether the zombies would be more likely than the mutants and then I found this animated timeline of nuclear explosions via BoingBoing.

The explosions range from 1945 to 1998 and the animation is the work of Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto.
