On September 30th, the indie games studio Workhorse from Scott Myers. A few products are left up on DriveThruRPG, but the publisher’s main assets have been transferred to others.
Workhorse might be best known for the RPG Eyes Beyond the Torchlight, a game which used a single dice roll for attack and damage.
The RPG is available in paperback and hardcover from Amazon as well as the PDF from DriveThruRPG. Amazon UK has it rated at 4.5/5 stars after 25 reviews.

I’ve been playing rpgs for over 20 years now and there have only been a few times over the years where a game checked all the right boxes for me. This is one of those times. Here’s why: 1. It has a unique, but smooth system 2. It is written in a clear, concise way that doesn’t lose its friendly tone. 3. The artwork gives you a classic b&w art style that is still evocative. 4. It’s highly modular, which means that one can have fun just coming up with tweaks and hacks. 5. Last but certainly not least, the folks at Workhorse have been generous enough to have an open license so that lovers of the game can write their own material for it. That folks, is what makes this a stellar game
Eyes Beyond the Torchlight will now be published by Max HP. Right now, Eyes Beyond the Torchlight is Max HP’s only product, and there’s no website attached to the account. A comment identifies ‘Rich H’ as the publisher.
Workhorses’ Olde Swords Reign also has a new publisher. Fumble Table will pick up this 5e-inspired game. Like Max HP, Fumble Table has no other product.
Olde Swords Reign is a tabletop roleplaying game based on 5th Edition but designed with emergent gameplay in mind. It’s faster, a tad deadlier, and relies more on player creativity to problem-solve than the options on a character sheet.
Universal mechanics run through the game that speed up gameplay, make improvisation easier for both players and GMs as well as helping to make rulings a little more intuitive and consistent. You can pick up and play any old-school module or OSR adventure but still have that 5e framework.
