Flying Buffalo is the tabletop RPG publisher behind Tunnels & Trolls. Tunnels & Trolls is the second-ever traditional tabletop RPG publisher and has been managed by Steve Crompton since the passing of founder Rick Loomis.
ICv2 is reporting that Webbed Sphere is the confirmed buyer in the previously announced deal to find Flying Buffalo a new home.
I’m glad they got the tip as I can find very little about Webbed Sphere Inc online, except this partially configured website that offers eCommerce and listing solutions, which is a giant task, business and business to consumer fulfilment. In other words, Webbed Sphere is all about getting games to you.
A Webbed Sphere official employee group exists on Facebook, with some 250 members. It looks like it was once a Troll and Toad group.
Webbed Sphere buys other companies. They own Webbed Sphere Property, but also Troll and Toad, Gambit and Six Hogs. The latter owns brands such as the Toy Vault shops, Auldhome Designs, Attaoy, Sunset Properties, and Mchezo brand. Together they generate about $40m worth in sales.
We’re told that John Ward, who joined Webbed Sphere with Angela Ward, will look after Flying Buffalo. Plans are clearly in place for the historic brand as Flying Buffalo is going to Gen Con.

As a T&T fan for decades I am cautiously optimistic. Though this makes me a bit nervous: “…as I can find very little about Webbed Sphere Inc online, except this partially configured website that offers eCommerce and listing solutions”
That was my initial reaction too…. but, in fairness, the retail aspects of the company are far more web savvy.
T&T is the best d@mn TTRPG system in existence. I hope it gets more spoghtlight under the new owners.
Hey, Thomas, I appreciate your endorsement. But do you know about the Facebook home of Trollhalla, and all the T&T-related pages that have sprung up over there? Do you know about Monsters! Monsters! and the new fantasy world of Zimrala? Do you know about Trollgodfather Press? As has been mentioned, my games don’t get nearly enough advertising coverage. –Ken St. Andre
In a way, this is potentially your chance to de-Loomis-ize and get some professional management of your own ideas and IP, which for example with Monsters! Monsters! could genuinely be a winner for table top RPG or even as part of the third wave of OSR.
