In Verdant Isles: Teatime Adventures, you’re not in a dungeon crawl that has you hack through goblins because they’re small, green and dangerous in sufficient numbers. In Teatime Adventures, you’re around for lunch, chatting with Hoptops because they’re small, green and charming in any number.
Snowbright’s 5e compatible and heartwarming RPG, one that comes with tea pairings, has been funded on Kickstarter and there’s still plenty of time to join the party. You can check it out or join at the project page.
Verdant Isles: Teatime Adventures pays extra special attention to inclusion and diversity, as evident in the video pitch and the fact that a screen-reader version of the Kickstarter story is available.
Geek Native was also able to speak to some of the team ahead of the campaign launch. Grace Collins, Snowbright’s CEO, was once the US Department of Education games and education policy lead, and the game introduces a new, optional, physical spellcasting mechanic for D&D.
Teatime Adventures is a series of three one shot adventures, each able to fill between one and four teatime sessions. These cozy adventures are set in the fully realized LGBTQ+ and disability friendly town of Oakenbend. Filled with adventures featuring rich narrative gameplay mechanics that allow players to explore mysteries, relationships, and meaning.
It’s a pledge of $25 to get the complete digital set; that includes Teatime Adventures, the Harmony Spellcasting print and play in PDF and the setting highlights. The latter is available separately for $1.
The next Hoptop hop-up is $50, which adds the hardcover to the rewards, with shipping and taxes to be worked up later.
Backers are going for the $250 tier. That adds custom dice, poster, GM screen, Harmony tokens, player mats, spellcards and tea.
There are higher tiers, including a hardboiled retailer level that has 10 copies of the game and some much more expensive levels that include some beautiful original art.
