I’m hesitant to blog anything on the morning of April 1, but here we are with a look at the RPG and geeky convention calendar and the month ahead.
April 5 is a big day in Star Trek lore; it’s First Contact Day. In 2021, there will be an official and virtual First Contact Day run for fans with special announcements, celebs, cast and behind-the-scenes crew.
Wil Wheaton and Mica Burton will host free virtual panels, host cast members and creatives from the show starting from 12:00 PM PT.
- Panel 1 is a special announcement and presentation from Patrick Stewart. Picard season 2, anyone?
- Panel 2 features the cast of Star Trek: First Contact and a look at how the film impacted the Star Trek canon.
- Panel 3 is “Creating First Contacts” with behind-the-camera experts.
- Panel 4 is “Women in Motion”, including a look at all the great things Nichelle Nichols did to pave the way.
- Panel 5 is “Second Contact” and discusses B-stories paving the way for shows like Star Trek: Lower Decks.
- Panel 6 is “First Contact with Star Trek: Prodigy”, which will feature Kate Mulgrew ahead of her return as Captain Janeway for Prodigy.
Just speaking into April, starting on the 30th and running up to May 10 is Jasper’s Day Week. That’s a chance to game with a host of RPG celebs.
In April, there’s also ConFusion Eastercon, Fantasy Grounds Con, Mepacon, Virtual Grogmeet, and Edinburgh (where Geek Native HQ is) based (virtual this year) Compulsion: Grimoire.
It’s not happening until November, but this week Comic-Con Special Edition, a physical convention from the Comic-Con San Diego team was confirmed.
