Procedural City Generator is a free to use Itch.io site which quickly generates custom cities.
The online city generator lets you pick from various styles such as Google Maps, Apple or hand-drawn styles more appropriate to a large fantasy city. You can illustrate individual buildings or not.
At first glance, it looks complicated, but it’s quick to master as this demo video shows.
If you’re running a tabletop RPG set in a suitably sized but not necessarily modern-day city, then Probable Train’s generator is an extremely handy resource.
The open-source software offers .png downloads, including .png heightmap downloads, .svg and even .stl files used in computer-aided design.
To get a map quickly, simply open up the controls in the top right and look for the generate link. The arrows toggle to reveal more options, such as coastal controls and water, but the map is essentially random. The site generates cities, it doesn’t offer much in the way to let you design and tinker with them.
However, advanced usage does allow you to open up the Tensor Field and move points of interest around before re-generating the cityscape.
