The scan of TSR’s World of Mystara D&D expansion Wrath of the Immortals is currently free to download from DriveThruRPG.
The 234-paged PDF is a copy of the 1992 print run which allows players to take on the role of one of Mystara’s powerful Immortals.
The large rulebook introduces the Immortals and how to use them in games and then outlines the Immortals in the Known World.
The book also includes rules on becoming Immortal and the Immortal character class.
The second half of the download, Book II: The Immortal’s Fury, is a pre-written adventure by Aaron Allston set in Hollow World sub-setting of Mystara.
Mystara was the default campaign setting for Basic D&D from the 80s to the 90s. There haven’t been official D&D products for Mystara since D&D 3, but Wizards of the Coast have said they are working on three classic settings to bring to D&D 5e.
You will need a copy of the D&D Rules Cyclopedia to get the most out of this edition of Wrath of the Immortals. Frank Mentzer is a co-author of the D&D Rules Cyclopedia, who has been banned from conventions after #MeToo claims.
Both the Wrath of the Immortals and D&D Rules Cyclopedia carry Wizards of the Coast’s legacy content disclaimer which indicates neither book would meet Wizards of the Coast’s standards today.

Is it really necessary to bring up Frank Mentzer every time you mention the Rules Cyclopedia? He has never made any money from sales of the RC, and he left TSR five years before its publication. It is certainly an edited version of his works, but then much of his works were also edited versions of previous works (Gygax, Arneson, Holmes, Moldvay, Cook…), and he is just one of many original authors listed. The Rules Cyclopedia was created by Aaron Allston, overseen by Bruce Heard. It’s unfair to the legacy of these people, as well as to the thousands of… Read more »
Good points and well made but not every D&D fan is as well informed as you. In fact, fans not already in possession of Wrath of the Immortals and the Rules Cyclopedia are more likely to be the new generation of fans who are more likely to appreciate the heads up. It sounds like Wizards of the Coast could do everyone a favour and strip Mentzer of the author credit he currently gets (leaving Allston as the sole author or replacing Mentzer with a more deserved contributor) if it is current mention is undeserved. While it’s there, it casts his… Read more »
