Superhero Week: Artist reimagines superheroines with practical costumes

July 1, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood 3 Comments

Geek Native once called this “drawing the impossible” back when we looked at Michael Lee Lunsford’s fully dressed superheroines. I like these additional designs from Lord Ingvard. He’s an illustrator who was experimenting with alternatives… but has found out that not everyone on the internet appreciates it. Amazingly, he’s been forced to offer apologies for […]

Superhero Week: Wonder Woman’s trousers

June 30, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

This new command from the always amazing Wonder Woman is brought to you by Superhero Week and Imgur where it was left without comment. I think the illustration speaks for itself. I’m slightly concerned the Green Lantern isn’t wearing anything, the dress is just a creation of will and once his ring runs out of […]

Superhero Week: How to be a Supervillain

June 30, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This post is not just part of Superhero Week. It’s also part of Geek Native’s Short Film series. This charming short project sprang from the mind of Alkanoids. 7 illustrators and 7 animators had just 2 days to get the job done. That’s why each of the segments had their own style. Despite how different […]

IronBay – Baymax meets Iron Man

June 9, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

How’s this for a “no nonsense nonsense” mashup? It’s Big Hero 6’s Baymax with Iron Man. IronBay is the work of deviant artist Bosslogix. The Australian artist has a few of his prints on sale from his gallery too; well worth checking out.

Super-light: A review of Worlds in Peril

June 3, 2015 by Ed 1 Comment

The bar-raising, mind-blowing Apocalypse World has taken the hobby by storm, quickly moving from its post-apocalypse roots to old-school swords-and-sorcery with Dungeon World, urban fantasy with Monster of the Week, teen romance with Monsterhearts, even professional wrestling with World Wide Wrestling. Now, Kyle Simmons has brought the apocalypse to the realm of superheroes with Worlds in Peril.  For those not in the know, the Apocalypse Engine, as […]

Who are the most deadly Marvel murderers?

May 25, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Which character from the Marvel Universe has killed the most people? That might be hard to work out. Let’s restrict the body count to famous people; superheroes, super villains and notable neutrals. What what the top three lethal list look like? All villains? You’d be in for a surprise. The infographic comes from Morphsuits.co.uk where […]

May 24, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Are you a fan of the Arrow TV show? Set in Starling City it has Arrow, played by Stephen Amell, doing his best to keep the very rough baddies off the street. He’s helped by Arsenal, the Black Canary and even the Atom at times. Arrow – Heroes and Villains is a companion book to […]

So yeah, Daredevil should be called Batman

May 24, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The Dorkly gang have it right. Why isn’t Daredevil called Batman? Sure, it might not be entirely true that bats are blind but maybe the same could be said for Daredevil and his powers? It’s just a shame there isn’t another hero around that could make better use of the name.
