Why skeletons attack!

January 17, 2015 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

A comic from Dorkly that explains why skeleton warriors are always so keen to attack adventurers. They’re not trying to do harm; they’re trying to rescue the skeleton trapped inside the meaty flesh puppet. Clearly!

The only morbid bone Cthulhu for you

April 7, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This handmade Bone Cthulhu can be yours. It costs only a couple hundred squid. If you’re tempted then pop over to the Forgotten Boneyard on Etsy and place your order. The catch? Cthulhu won’t leave the States. That’s a shame. I rather like to think what might happen if customs opened the parcel.

Skeleton battle wedding cake

May 29, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This isn’t a scene from D&D Next. This is a wedding cake. Created by Mike’s Amazing Cakes is geek grub that could only have been ordered by +5 geeks. I call roleplayers. I also tip my hat to an incredible wedding cake idea.

Blogfest: In honour of Ray Harryhausen

May 10, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Sadly, this week the special effects titan Ray Harryhausen died. At the suggestion of R.J. Thompson over at Gamers and Grognards, to honour the legend, Geek Native will be taking part in a “blogfest” dedicated to the man. The animated gif at the top of this post shows the amazing work he pioneered. It was […]

March 17, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This Diablo III Skeleton King statue was created by Samo Kramberger of Slovenia. It stands at 36cm without the base (which Samo stresses is just temporary), was sculpted in polymer clay and painted with acrylics.

When Necromancers duel: bone pistol set

January 13, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This bone pistol duelling set and the guns below are the creation of Bruce Mahalski. His work has been included in exhibitions since 1997 and, safe to say, has its own look. On his bio Mahalski notes that he started collecting shells, fossils and bones at a very young age, copying his scientist parents who […]

Little Shop of Horrors – in bone

October 25, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Remember Audrey II from the Little Shop of Horrors? He was one demanding plant. Dangerous too. It’s a good thing that Audrey II won’t come back to life as a dangerous skeletal monster this Halloween… oh. Wait… This fantastic, real bone, creation was put together by Forgotten Boneyard who sell dark and weird creatures on […]

Ghost Hunt game for Halloween

October 9, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is a rather clever looking game. Billy Bones comes from Belgium and the game designers at Megableu. Here in the UK, Firebox have the exclusive and I hear plans to run a TV advert. The premise is fairly simple; the Billy Bones character is actually a protector capable of spinning around to randomly project […]
