Picture this… Vampire: The Masquerade LARP group adopts highway

January 3, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is a highway in northern Virginia and it’s been adopted by a Vampire: The Masquerade LARP club. I think this is pretty cool though I’m not sure it follows the Masquerade very closely!

Necronomicon fragment LARP scrolls

December 26, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The Litany of Dagon scroll Geek Native shared in August had its fans so I took notice when I came across Zarono on Etsy selling a range of Cthulhu and Necronomicon scrolls. The experience feels in keeping with the H.P. Lovecraft experience; I was browsing through Etsy’s wonders when I noticed the strange designs on […]

Nekrogoblikon “No One Survives”

September 11, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I’m not normally a fan of death metal – but this one caught my attention. Perhaps it’s because it’s a good retelling of the traditional fantasy story of the work stressed goblin, bothered by co-workers while dreaming about getting the girl. I wonder why they call this track “No One Survives”? Fan? There’s a Facebook […]

Assassin’s Creed 3 foam tomahawk

September 11, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This foam tomahawk is a recreation of the weapon used by Connor in Assassin’s Creed 3. It’s 500mm by 225mm, nearly, and made from PU Latex with a fiberglass insert. Is this good enough for LARPing? It’ll depend on your marshalls and local rules but the axe head is a loop and looks rather fragile […]

Transform your horse into a dragon

September 5, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

There’s no reason why human LARPers should have all the fun. Horses can join in to. What? No horses in your LARP due to price and health and safety rules? Hmm. That’s a bit of a bother because I doubt SCA and other groups would consider this mask to be historically correct. Oh well. Via […]

LARP love story: Foam Fighters

August 29, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Foam Fighters is a love story set around a LARP group. Mark gets dragged into his first ever LARP where he meets Gwen. The problem? Gwen’s with a rival faction. Foam Fighters have a blog for fans which lets us keep up to date with the production. This is pretty fun because they’re doing this […]

The Litany of Dagon scroll

August 25, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

How’s this for a LARP prop? The seller, Hawanja, describes the prop as something for a Cthulhu LARP. Do you know of any Lovecraft live action games? It doesn’t matter. This scroll, made from heavy cardstock and then treated to age it, is good enough to be a breathtaking handout in a tabletop Cthulhu game. […]

Zaphats and augmented reality clothing for LARPs

August 25, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Augmented reality clothing brands, like Zappar, certainly aren’t restricted to making fashion to be adapted by LARPers. I suspect, for now, they may be restricted to fashion for geeks though. What a piece of AR clothing does is transform, on screen, when viewed with the right app. The best way to describe it is to […]

LARPers watch out: eBay bans the sale of potions and spells

August 15, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The auction super-power eBay has updated its rules. As a result the selling of advice, spells, curses, hexing, conjuring, magic, prayers and the similar are no longer allowed. The move is likely aimed at the very real practise of selling good luck or sex and love charms on the site as well as curses. This […]

Bloody handprints – for LARPs and pranks

July 19, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Hats off and hands out to Pillbox Designs for this superb vinyl wall art set. This collection of prints is not just art. It’s art with a message. That message is “Boo!” These bloody hand print wall decals would suit any LARP set designer or geeky household with a sense of humour.
