DigiGuide bought by EBS New Media

December 14, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood 2 Comments

One of my favourite little applications is DigiGuide. By application I actually mean an old style .exe. DigiGuide was a piece of software I downloaded years ago, pay for and use every day. It’s an electronic TV listings guide for the UK. Sure, it lets me sort channels and show them in a display format […]

Desktop dinosaur – the Applerex

October 2, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

There are hardly any wallpaper posts here on Geek Native and they’re very popular. That’s just the way of the web though; lots of people out there are looking for blogs recommending good fantasy, sci-fi, horror or otherwise geeky wallpapers. However; you can spruce your desktop in other ways. You can use the icons on […]

Android versus Apple wallpapers

September 26, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

These three fantastic wallpapers surfaced themselves at Bot.nu. This means that they could have come from anywhere. I like them though. I’ve had an iPhone, a Windows mobile smart phone and I’m currently on Android (an HTC Desire). Android’s my favourite so far – but I do also keep an iPod Touch.

Apple versus Nintendo – what about the WiiPad?

May 8, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Straight away, I think, this video illustrates what a threat Apple is to the causal gaming hopes of Nintendo and Sony. All […]

The iBookend – Use your iPad as a bookend

April 8, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This week I got my first email which had “Sent from my iPad” in the signature. It came from a colleague in London. I teased him. He pointed out the worse thing about having an iPad already and being based in the UK is that the App Store isn’t yet open over here. He can’t […]

iPad prices for the UK leaked? £389, £439 and £489

February 27, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The folks over at Geeky Gadgets reckon they’ve got accurate UK prices for Apple’s iPad. The site’s tip-off claims that the base 16GB WiFi iPad will be available for £389, the 32GB WiFi model will be available for £439 and the 64GB WiFi model will be available for £489. As expected that would make the […]

How fanboys see operating systems

December 17, 2009 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This funny visual was put together by (I think) Joey Devilla (what a great name). So make sure you visit his site and give him some love. Let’s avoid the debate as to whether the Mac OS is just Linux or whether it’s wrong to lump all the Linux flavours together. Let’s just point and […]
