August 21, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This stunning model of Emily the corpse bride is actually a cake. The model was created by Kidacity for the 2013 Cakeweenie. Cakeweenie celebrated Tim Burton’s 55th birthday by gathering 100 bakers and cake artits from around the world. Together they made dozens of wonderfully spooky and tasty treats.

Shower with the Doctor? Tardis shower curtain

August 21, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Okay, okay… maybe this classic TARDIS shower curtain doesn’t come with its own Doctor but it certainly allows you to make your shower larger on the inside than the outside. No lie. Totally true. Huh-uh! This TARDIS happens to be green as well as blue. It’s made from 100% ec-friendly EVA vinyl and PVC-free. [I […]

The history of D&D in 3 minutes

August 21, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The Verge is a popular site doing a good job covering the intersection of technology, science, art and culture. Did you imagine they’d dabble with D&D? They have and it’s all about Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition. Actually, the video talks about the “edition wars” which I have honestly never heard a fellow gamer use […]

The talented artists who bring dragons to life with just one brush stroke

August 21, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

These dragons are finished with a single stroke of the brush and their elegant tails are still wonderfully detailed and beautiful.

Dungeons & Dragons tops Amazon US’s best sellers; Amazon UK has month long delay

August 21, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

It’s good news for Wizards of the Coast. The initial reaction to Dungeons & Dragons 5 by the media has been positive. The response from fans also seems to be good. A strong example of this success comes from Amazon.com. Amazon has had the Player’s Handbook at the very top of the Best Sellers list in […]

The Lord of the Rings tarot deck

August 20, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood 8 Comments

The Lord of the Rings tarot deck by Scieth Ailm is rather good. The Russian artist is generous with her work, giving goodies like geeky calendars away for free on her Deviant Art page. This collection of Middle Earth art in the form of tarot cards is popular. The major arcana are drawn as characters […]

Rather strange xenomorph ring becomes a brass knuckle

August 20, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

If this xenomorph ring wasn’t already large enough to act like a bass knuckle in the event you decide to wallop someone – it actually can become a brass knuckle. Want one? You can pick them from Kilroy’s Attic. A strange ring seems to demand a strange perspective on the video but this is a […]

Cartography and drinking; who knew they went together?

August 20, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Would Gandalf approve? This Middle Earth hip flask would be quite a handy reference if you ever had to leave The Shire. The handmade item is stainless steel and holds 6 ounces of your favourite tipple. One item that’s both your flask and your map? That’s twice the reasons not to loose it. You can […]

Phew! Good news for British geeks as Channel 4 renews Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

August 20, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Wouldn’t it suck if Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. continued in the form that the last few episodes of season 1 got up to and if no network in the UK picked up the show. It would surely do wonders for Netflix, BlinkBox or Amazon’s Instant Video membership. Good news, though, as free to watch Channel 4 […]
