Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings cinematic trailer

May 18, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Even as an European I think some of the accents on CD Projeckt’s The Witcher trailers are a little odd… but that’s about the only negative comment I’ve got. Geek Native posted Witcher 2 roundup last month and now we’ve got our hands on the last cinematic trailer. It’s well worth the watch.

Portal 2: Personality Spheres

May 18, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood 3 Comments

Finished with Portal 2 yet? You could do yourself a favour and check out Chris Myles’ Flickr account for photographs for some rather awesome Portal 2 Sphere goodies. There’s the Hello Kitty Sphere, for one, but for this teaser I wanted to showcase his collection of personality spheres. These are all handmade which, I think, […]

Dragon Quest 6: Realms of Revelation

May 18, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Dragon Quest 6 is an RPG for the DS. If you’re familiar with the series then you might be pleased to know that the class system fron Dragon Quest 3 returns (with some modifications) and yet Heartbeart have stuck with the post Dragon Quest 4 graphic improvements. Dragon Quest 6 is a save the world […]

Cats in Tanks

May 18, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Aww. Maru has proved just how cute cats in boxes are. If some geek just happens to make a tank out of a pile of boxes then surely cats would be attracted to them… and surely it would be just as cute? Perhaps. A note of caution though – this cute cats in tanks video […]

The Call of Cthulhu is “Pika!” followed by an electric zap?

May 18, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Some sights cannot be unseen. Some images will remain burned as mental scars for a lifetime. This is one. Behold the twin evils of the electric rat and the unholy Cthulhu! On your knees and despair before the Pikachu Cthulhu!

X-Muppets: X-Men or Muppets?

May 18, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Mondo credit goes to the deviant artist Rahzzah for this clever digital mash-up. We take two bits of geek culture, two far removed and yet inclusive aspects of geek culture, and show how well they go together. I think the Animal Wolverine, in particular, is a work of genius. What do you think?

Dark Horse announce Kult mini-series

May 17, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is good stuff. Kult is a cult RPG among gamers. It’s dark, it’s intelligent and it’s unusual. Dark Horse often manage to prove to me they have their finger on the counter-culture buzz but this news surprises me. They’ve announced a Kult mini-series of comics. Featured is parole officer Thomas Zenk – one of […]

New Zelda song is old Zelda song… just played backwards satanic style

May 17, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

There was a time when the conservative right objected to rock music. A common claim was that if a certain track was played backwards it would contain satanic messages. Once or twice this was true. What happens if we apply this test to The Legend of Zelda’s Skyward Sword Theme? I’ll tell you what; you’ll […]

Alien versus Space Invaders

May 17, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

A shout out to the deviant artist Letter Q for helping us understand who would beat who – aliens or space invaders. Sorry, did I say who would beat who? I meant to say who would eat who. The aliens would simply chomp their way through those tasty space invaders. Just for the record; you […]

Super Mario proposal

May 15, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Warning – there are loud squees in this video. I think we can forgive these particular high pitch tones because of the situation. Here’s the scene; the girlfriend is out – so the boyfriend designs a Super Mario room. This room includes a “floating” box. In that box there’s a wedding ring. Oh yes; this […]
