Whimsically winning: A review of The Night is Short, Walk on Girl
Masaaki Yuasa’s animation The Night is Short, Walk on Girl is not a visually beautiful anime in the traditional sense. This adaptation of the hugely popular Yoru wa Mijikashi Aruke yo Otome by Tomihiko Morimi is sometimes told with some very simple graphics. Nevertheless, once you get over your initial shock at the style and […]
Human emotions. Inhuman threats. A review of Beyond the Boundary the Movie
I reviewed the Beyond the Boundary series back in January 2016 and called it a dangerous urban fantasy. It’s 18 months later and I remember it fondly – more fondly than I come across in that early review. On reflection I think that’s because the characters were so strong. Activist group demands Doctor Who becomes vegan
At the start of the year PETA complained about Games Workshop depicting fur on their miniatures. That call must have had some merit as PETA are back to pitch an idea to the geek community again. This time they’ve penned an open letter (PDF) to new showrunner Chris Chibnall to ask for the Doctor to […]
The Doctor Who 2017 Christmas special trailer lands
Look at those TARDIS. We’ve Peter Capaldi as 12 and David Bradley back doing his glourious work as 1. Long-time writer Mark Gatiss makes an appearance and, nice to see, the return of a certain companion. Are you looking forward to it? Or have you had enough of Who for a lifetime or thirteen?
Inhumans trailer – do you have a favourite yet?
What do you make of the trailer? Can Marvel find TV success again with this series? I’ll admit to some concern The series will offer up a teaser episode on giant IMAX screens come September and then start fully on ABC come the 29th. We’re yet to see if any UK station will pick up […]
