San Francisco re-created from toothpicks

June 17, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Scott Weaver is one talented chap. What would yo do with over a million toothpicks? He built a re-creation of San Francisco with them. Not only that – but he uses smiley face ping-pongs to illustrate the entry points into the might construction. The way they whirl around the city is awesome. I have a […]

Photo-real (and rather cute) goblins

June 12, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Inspired by the “There was a goblin” (spoiler alert) quote from Doctor Who I went looking for some pictures of cheeky gobbos online. It didn’t take long to find Bill Fleming (aka ~KomodoEmpire) at DeviantArt and his rather excellent photo manipulation gallery of Goblins. Very cute. Go buy the prints, people. :)

Blur Game – car crashes and street art

May 29, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

London, Berlin and Madrid have all had some racing game sponsored street art splashed onto a dull wall. In London’s case the art attack happened in Hackney and was lead by Gavin Nolan, the guy behind The Rockwell Project. It’s supposed to be 3D art. Tough to do in graffiti style – but I’ll leave […]

It is only clever if you think it is. I’m informed that this picture is now in public domain and free for the talents of the intenet to dye in all sorts of pretty colours.

Have you ever wondered… where cursors come from?

May 28, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Cursors come from the cursor woods of the great icon valley. We have Jay B Sauceda to thank for this discovery. Or, er, Nathan W Pyle. Perhaps Nathan’s the artist? Anyway! Enjoy!

Seasame Street Fighters!

My favourite is Grover as Dhalsim! What? It just works. The DeviantARTist soaring to fame this week is gavacho13. Wow. Gavacho13 certainly deserves all the attention the world of geeky blogs are giving him! What’s your favourite? Kermit? Big Bird? Just click for the larger image.

Burning! Papercraft Fallout 3 laser pistol

May 21, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The good folks at Bethesda put a lot of effort into their blog. I’ve noticed that Nick likes to give props back to the community. Thanks Nick. On Thursday we had this post about a Fallout 3 laser pistol. It’s made entirely from paper. Probably just as well it doens’t shoot lasers. I would imagine […]

Mattias Adolfsson’s outlandish Baroque Star Wars portraits

May 21, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

What do you think of when people talk about Baroque? Art? Architecture? Wigs? Steampunk? Bet you don’t think Star Wars. Mattias Adolfsson, drawing from Sweden, may well change your mind. Check out this gallery of Baroque Star Wars portraits. Jabba the powdered / Jabba the Hutt is a personal favourite.

Real life snake and ladder

May 20, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

It’s not quite real life snakes and ladders – there’s only one ladder and only one snake. Mind you; it’s a pretty big snake! Also; not sure whether you’d simply climb the ladder only then to be eaten by the snake and fall to the bottom again. Oh dear – am I turning into a […]

Cute underworld street art

May 19, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This impressive set of pictures comes to Geek Native via one of those Russian language LiveJournal blogs that spring up over night, post a lot of impressive pictures and then vanish. These blogs, if you can find them, are a great way of surfacing great content. They’re rubbish at giving credit to the original artists. […]
