In the Shadow of the Lord is a murder mystery from Adventurely.
Planning a party for Halloween, if social distancing recommendations in your area allow? In the Shadow of the Lord might be the distraction you need as this murder mystery (like a LARP) is designed to be your finger-food dinner party and last three hours.
At your party, your guests are characters in the mystery. Some are vampires, and some their servants, and have gathered because a new undead leader needs to be elected.
Written by Chelsea Sciortino, Fleur Sciortino and Daniel Mercieca, the evening’s entertainment is currently free to download from Google Drive. It’s about 50MB.
Once you download the game, you have a low ink version of the game to be kind to your printer and a full-colour one. You’ll have power cads, character sheets, a player’s guide, quick reference and other materials as well as an instructions brochure.
The instructions from Chelsea and Fleur have you planning your parties weeks ahead of time, sending out invitations and game information a week before your guests arrive. They’re not wrong, but as a GM I’m often not this organised.
In the Shadow of the Lord looks excellent, and is a superb product to get for free and I hope an indicator of what Adventurely might offer in the future. This blogger has enjoyed a fair few murder mystery dinners/parties, and they’re often great fun.
