Genesis biopod. Sleep with the fishes. Underwater coffin.

Designer Jack Hokanson invented this pod in honour of his own father. It’s a coffin. It’s a coffin that’s designed to sit at the bottom of the ocean… and be a mini marine habitat.

Within minutes of reaching the bottom of the ocean floor the Genesis biopod begins its transformation from urn to habitat. The water soluble bag that contains the cremated remains of the deceased begins to dissolve. The current washes the cremains out of the biopod and to the sea floor; so starts the process and in a few days you will have algae growth and on your way to providing the fish a new shelter.

The “burial” process includes a GPS beacon so you can leave other family members in the same area and continue your ecological efforts in a simple way.
