I’ve heard nothing but praise for Shawn Tomkin’s Ironsworn. The RPG has been on my ‘to review’ pile for far too long.
The Apocalypse World game has three different ways to play. You can enjoy a guided game, like a typical tabletop RPG, with players and a GM. Or, you can do without the GM and play a co-op game. You can give play the game as a solo RPG.
The Ironlands are a dark fantasy setting, and the game comes with story hooks, quest-driven mechanics as well as a bunch of customisation options.
The PDF is free to download. You don’t need to pay a penny for the core rules if all you want is a digital copy.
Ironsworn: Delve
Ironsworn’s latest supplement weighs in at a meaty 235 pages and, as is only fair, this one isn’t free. The PDF will set you back $12.50, or you can get the hardback and PDF together for £26.50 currently.
Delve has been called the dungeon crawling supplement for Ironsworn but it adds more dangerous locations than just underground tunnels. There’s foreboding swamps, icebound wastes, ancient ruins and untracked forests.
As with the core rules, Delve’s expansion can be used as a traditional tabletop, group co-op without a Gamemaster and even as new solo RPG material.
Ironsword: Delve was added to DriveThruRPG on the 14th.
