Nora Blake has put together plenty of roleplaying games, and you can find them at her Itch.io collection. Dust Wardens is her first Kickstarted project. She’s asking for $5,000 and with a little under three weeks to go is approaching $8,000. You can follow the campaign on Kickstarter.
A pledge of only $5 gets you a PDF of the book and $20 will get you the book in digital and paper form.
Dust Wardens is a game about polyamory, queer families and safe heavens in a world that is out to get you.
Blake describes the game structure as similar to powered by the apocalypse, except with tarot cards.
Dust Wardens has four key stats; Guts which measures your forcefulness and will, Glamour as a gauge for how comfortable you are to put yourself on display, Guile to measure how cunning and manipulative you are and, lastly, Give to track your tenderness and empathy.
In the game, when you do something that corresponds to one of the Basic Actions or creates tension, you draw a number of tarot equal to the best fitting stat. The highest tarot card determines the outcome, and major arcana cards mean something weird and magical has happened.
