Short film: Rakka

This is a short and hard hitting sci-fi from Neill Blomkamp. Mankind is suffering badly at the hands of cruel alien invaders. The South African director is already well established thanks to titles like District 9 and Elysium.

Watch out for Sigourney Weaver as a bad-ass human boss.

Rakka is the first project from Blomkamp’s own Oats Studios. They’re trying new things here. For example, this 20 minute teaser is part of a mission to reach a full scale feature film. You can buy more ‘Volume 1’ assets on Steam to get at extra content. To me it sounds like Blomkamp isn’t just trying new cinemagraphy and stories but testing alternative ways to distribute films and raise funds.
