Are you playing Destiny? This is Bungie’s first game since Halo. It’s dividing the gaming community. Some gamers find it incredibly addictive. Some RPGers find it too much like a first person shooter. Some 1st person shooter fans find it too much like a RPG.
I’m still enjoying Destiny. I like it because of that blend of RPG and shooter. I’m digging the real time nature of it too. I know I need to be in the Tower this weekend to try and find the mysterious trader. I’ve done my research and know he’ll accept the artefacts known as “strange coins” in exchange for some of the weirdest tech available.
There are other Destiny gamers like me; those that mix the action elements with the enjoyment of the RPG-style landscape. These gamers can be found spread thinly through the game’s young Clan system.
Here are 20 clans – ranging from fledgling to small but established – all tagged with #roleplay. These present a chance to be part of a group, make friends, allies and the game hints at unlocking rewards too.
The Curse of 400 to 10nm
“Lumen est gravius onus”
New but with a forum that’s seeing some action. This roleplay Clan is where you’ll meet other Geek Native readers.
“Talons in the Darkness.”
A similar size to The Curse and with a similar respect to the casual play schedule those of us not in school holidays will likely have.
“The deepest sleep; A tune worth noting.”
A micro-clan at the time of posting but a clever concept.
Guardians of Mythos
“We have become Legend.”
A similar size to The Curse and Proxy Division and with the determination to make a mark on history.
Mandalorians of Destiny
That’s right! A Star Wars roleplay group snuggled into the heart of Destiny.
A small group of RPers who found a home on Halo Waypoint and then discovered Destiny.
The Royal Vanguards
“Long live the queen”
A PlayStation clan for Destiny. These Guardians have sworn loyalty to the King. But which? The New Monarchy.
“Absolutum dominium et de stellis!”
The Godlike Survivors – the Sons of Mars reborn from the Light of the Traveler.
The Way of the Blue
“What is bravery, without a dash of recklessness.”
This clan is going great guns and has over 100 followers. The Way of the Blue have equal focus on PVE/PVP and roleplay.
“De la meute naît la force!”
A French group that mixes raiding coordination with roleplay.
The Armored Syndicate
“Stand firm, and ascend to glory.”
Small but with potential the Armored Syndicate has a nod to tactics and the military the other clans so far have either assumed or skiped. I’d like to see these guys take a chunk out of the Cabal.
Classic Space Adventures
A bit of a mystery as a group – the system claims they’ve been going for 2 years. How’s that possible? The clan itself says it was inspired by Pinkamena’s epic thread. Don’t know the thread but this clan is one of the biggest #roleplay groups out there.
“Eyes are blind, though they are watching.”
In a game about Light versus The Darkness this fledgling clan has a great name. Expect to find the Blindness in the Crucible.
Another fledgling clan but one heading in the right direction; The Cavalry are all about the cooperative aspects of Destiny.
The Skeptic Order
“As Candles in the Dark”
A new group that is yet to promote itself. Why do you think The Traveler created the Guardians? Why are they risen from the dead?
“For the better future.”
TRI-ARK will group into three armed service branches if they are successful. Those three are based on Desinty’s classes; Warlock, Titan and Hunter.
Guardian Fire Team Delta
New but with a clear purpose; avid gamers looking for an experience beyond the run-and-run. If successful this clan aspires to be closely knit and better than simply charging three Guardians headlong into a firefight.
“Freedom comes in many forms.”
Another new group and one with some surprising tags. How surprising? Alongside #roleplay the Monsaurian Alliance lists #evil and #slavery and descriptions. Just what is founder LeMonsaur up to?
The Dark Guardians II
“When the Light fails, turn to the Darkness.”
If the Monsaurian Alliance are probably up to no good – then The Dark Guardians should be credited for wearing their colours in plain sight. They don’t trust the Traveler. Power is power, they argue, and what matters is how you use it. This clan claim to take their power from the Darkness.
Order of the Wolk Pack
An order of lost knights seeking out to secure weapins of mass destruction and to protect the galaxy.
