E! Online are claiming LucasFilm sources are describing Star Wars 7 as all new.
The quote is simply;

This will disappoint Timothy Zahn who might have hoped to follow the adventures of Luke and the assassin Mara Jade.
It’s always wise to be somewhat sceptical of unnamed sources but no one at Lucasfilm, right after they’ve just been bought by Disney, is going to put their name to this. E! Online are in the right space to have sources at both Disney at Lucasfilm so we should not completely dismiss the claim either.
Of course, this doesn’t mean the time at which Star Wars 7 is set or even the backdrop won’t reflect on the Timothy Zahn work. We could have Grand Admiral Thrawn, the last of the Emperor’s Warlords, marshalling the remains of the Imperial Fleet. However, the slightest whiff of a battle around Intellectual Property rights may dampen those hopes.
