xTool has launched the xTool X1, a modular multi-laser cutting and engraving system aimed at tabletop crafters and cosplay fabricators. Operating from its UK base in London and US offices in California, the manufacturer will begin shipping the heavy-duty unit on 29 October. The machine abandons fixed-laser designs, letting users swap between a base 55W CO2 laser and optional 20W Diode, 5W UV, 30W Fibre, and 60W MOPA heads.

The system targets creators who build terrain for roleplaying games or fabricate mixed-material props. Makers typically need a CO2 laser to cut thick MDF and acrylic, alongside a diode or UV laser to engrave resin miniatures or glass. The X1 mounts a high-speed Galvo laser onto a traditional Gantry, allowing speeds up to 6,000 mm/s for engraving and 600 mm/s for CO2 cutting across a 615 by 320 mm workspace.
Jessie Liu, President at xTool, said in a statement,
Users see a seamless ‘Place & Go’ experience on the surface, but under the hood, the X1 solves hundreds of optical, algorithmic, and mechanical variables.”
To automate focusing, the X1 relies on a triple-camera system and an auto-lifting base. The manufacturer is heavily promoting its proprietary software ecosystem, xTool Studio, alongside an Atomm AI subscription service. The standard product specifications omit any mention of LightBurn, the independent software standard used by many tabletop and cosplay creators.
While marketed as a desktop unit for home studios, the X1 is a significant piece of industrial hardware. The pressure-cast aluminium frame measures 1,000 by 580 by 420 mm and weighs 60 kg. Buyers must also navigate shifting safety standards based on how they configure the machine. Out of the box, it operates as a Class 1 enclosed laser. However, installing the 5W UV Galvo source exposes Class 3B radiation during alignment, and attaching the optional intelligent conveyor feeder upgrades the entire rig to a Class 4 laser device intended for trained professionals.
Launch pricing starts at £2,949 for the base 55W CO2 unit and reaches £6,129 for a bundle including the CO2, Diode, and 60W MOPA lasers. xTool is currently offering a £100 deposit system until 29 October, which secures a free fire safety set, materials discounts, and a six-month subscription to their Atomm Max software service.
