Seattle-based publisher Green Ronin is launching a Kickstarter campaign this September to fund the English-language edition of Nobunaga’s Black Castle. Originally designed by Yusuke Tokita and published by Japanese studio CONOS in 2022, this Sengoku doom metal fantasy roleplaying game is fully compatible with the MÖRK BORG rules. The new project aims to bridge the gap for Western players who previously missed out on the original release due to international shipping limitations.

The game drops players into a grim, alternate history version of the Sengoku Jidai, Japan’s Warring States Period. History books usually state that the warlord Oda Nobunaga was betrayed and forced to commit seppuku at Honnō-ji Temple. In Nobunaga’s Black Castle, he survives the trap to become the Sixth Heaven Demon King, commanding demon hordes and plunging the world into ruin.
Players take on the roles of characters who are already dead. Killed by Nobunaga and cast into Hell, your characters burn with such a fiery desire for vengeance that they have returned to the living world with a single goal: to kill the warlord.
While the original Japanese release earned praise for its striking creature art from a varied roster of illustrators, Green Ronin has not yet confirmed if the English edition will feature new artwork, digital tool support, or any additional content beyond the core translation.
