The science-fantasy universe of Starfinder is making a significant leap into the digital realm as Ricard Pilosu, co-founder of Epictellers Entertainment, has unveiled the first gameplay teaser for Starfinder: Afterlight. Revealed during the New Game + Showcase, the party-based roleplaying game promises a “space western” atmosphere, blending the tactical depth of the Starfinder Second Edition ruleset with a narrative style inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy and Firefly.
Tactical Combat and the Three-Action Economy
The gameplay footage offers a first look at how the transition from tabletop to screen is being handled. Notably, the developers have opted for a turn-based system that eschews traditional grid-based movement to avoid a “tabletop simulator” aesthetic. However, the game’s mechanical core remains rooted in the Starfinder (and Pathfinder) Second Edition framework, utilising the celebrated three-action economy.
In the demo, players control Sterling, an operative, alongside support characters like LU-323 (affectionately called Lou). The footage demonstrates tactical synergies, such as Lou using the Get ’em ability to provide offensive buffs to allies. Combat isn’t just about positioning; it’s about managing a unique cast of companions, including android assassins and mystic prophets, across 40 to 60 hours of adventure.

A Star-Studded Voice Cast
One of the most striking elements of the reveal is the high-profile voice cast. The game features Roger Clark, best known as Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption, as the narrator, providing that distinct frontier grit. Joining him are industry heavyweights including Neil Newbon (Preach), Fred Tatasciore (Kole), Inel Tomlinson (Tycho), Melissa Medína (LU-323), James Alexander (Sterling), and Carolina Ravassa (Captain Khali).
The narrative focus extends beyond combat. Epictellers Entertainment confirmed an approval and romance system where dialogue choices directly influence companion relationships. Ricard Pilosu, Co-founder at Epictellers Entertainment, explained in the press release:
Starfinder: Afterlight is a party-based RPG in a universe that mixes technology and magic. We focus on creating great storytelling… The dialogue system is the main way to introduce a player to the lore of the world.”
Launch Window and Demo

While the full game is scheduled for Early Access on PC via Steam in summer 2026, fans won’t have to wait that long to set foot in the Pact Worlds. A public demo featuring early-game content is slated for release later this year. This demo will allow players to experience the exploration and combat systems firsthand, offering a taste of the branching storylines where “nothing is forbidden” and every choice carries consequences.
For those looking to brush up on the lore or prepare for the tactical shift, the Starfinder Second Edition materials are currently available on Paizo and Amazon, providing the mechanical foundation for this digital adaptation.
