At the start of the year Geek Native wrote about One Earth. This would be a new type of MMO that ran in conjunction with a TV show (on Syfy). The concept was simple, compelling, addictive but very hard to do. The TV show and the MMO would reflect each other. For example, if two powerful factions went to war in the MMO then they’d go to war in the TV show. If the characters in the TV show blew up a city then the city would be removed in the game.
For E3 this year Trion and Syfy have released a teaser video – called Defiance – along with a note that this was a working title. Not sure what the working title is a reference too… is the game and TV show now no longer going to be called One Earth? Or was the trailer just given a working title of Defiance.
I’ll also admit to some doubt as to which platforms the game will be available for. It’s an MMO so the PC seems likely… but I see mentions of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 options too. With no published release date yet I’m sure Trion and Syfy have plenty of time to furnish us with the details. For now; check out the trailer!
