Finally, we got the drop for FX‘s full trailer for Alien: Earth, and it looks intense, terrifying and utterly freakin’ BADASS! It seems creator Noah Hawley has done a fantoosh job of creating something that not only delivered our required xenomorph fix, but delivers for long-time fans of the Alien franchise.
I cannot tell you how excited I am about this show!
Here’s the official description for the series:
In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans.
But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named ‘Wendy’ (Sydney Chandler) marks a new dawn in the race for immortality.
After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, Wendy and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.
In the trailer, we get to take a closer look at central character Wendy (played by Sydney Chandler). Her story’s a bit different to everything that’s come before, in that she’s the first human to have her consciousness transferred to a synthetic. As a result, she’s “a child’s brain in a bot’s body”.
According to Hawley: “Sydney’s character is someone who’s trying to figure out what her role is in this world and, on some level, the age-old question of, does humanity deserve to survive?”
Check out the full trailer below:
Now. Knowing what we know about Sydney, should she REALLY be in charge leading a group of synthetic soldiers? Has she trained for this sh*t?
Anyway, the series also stars Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Babou Ceesay, Essie Davis, Adrian Edmondson, David Rysdahl, Lily Newmark, and more.
And we’ll all be like xenomorphs chomping at the bit to watch Alien: Earth when it’s released on Hulu on 12th August! Are you ready?
