Do you think of Doctor Who or the villainous Kilgrave from Netflix’s Jessica Jones when someone mentions Scottish actor David Tennant? Crowley from Good Omens?
Perhaps one of his other roles? Today, at MCM Comic Con at Excel London, he was interviewed on the main stage, and it seems like there was a chance he could have also had the role of Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four.

The reveal, insomuch as it was, came when a fan in the audience asked which superhero, regardless of likelihood, Tennant would like to play.
The answer came with a smile,
In terms of superheroes I did slightly have my eye on Reed Richards and unfortunately it looks like they’ve gone in a different direction. Although if it has to be someone I’m very happy for it to be Pedro Pascal.”
I know “I did slightly have my eye on” does not mean “I auditioned for” but combine that with “they’ve gone in a different direction” and I’m confident that Tennant at least had his hat in the ring, or had told his agent to make it clear to Marvel that he was interested.
It could have worked, too.
However, it seems Netflix may have already nailed the best supervillain for David Tennant as he prefixed his response with;
I think in terms of supervillains I got the best one with Kilgrave,”
Another fan developed the speculation further and got an interesting response. This time the question was whether there was a character that he’d like to play from a show or series that he enjoys.
You mean that I haven’t done yet? Oh well there is, but I can’t… just in case it happens. I don’t want to [say]… there’s something we’re working on right now that hopefully will come to fruition and will answer your question. But it’s too soon to say.
So hopefully I’ll have an answer to your question. I just can’t give it to you now. But in about… maybe in about six months, a year’s time if everything were to go to plan, there may be a wee announcement.”
Six months to a whole year to find out? That’s a long wait. I have a very weird suggestion; what about Andrew Ryan in the much-delayed BioShock adaptation?
