Sony has just cancelled its PlayStation Stars loyalty programme, putting an end to all new sign-ups. Current members who cancel will not be able to sign up to the programme again.
However, if you ARE currently a member, you’ll still be able to earn points and collectables, and increase your status until 23rd July at 9:59 PM ET. Beyond that point, all campaigns and rewards will be finito, with the programme being entirely phased out on 2nd November.
Those who keep their memberships beyond then will still be able to redeem their points, as long as they haven’t expired by that time.
Since its launch in 2022, PlayStation Stars has let players earn points by playing games and purchasing via the PlayStation Store. Points can currently be redeemed for PSN wallet funds and selected products in the store.
Playstation has said it wants to “refocus” its approach to rewards. What does that mean? Guess we’ll have to stay tuned to find out. Here’s what they’ve said via their official blog:
We want to thank all of our players for supporting PlayStation Stars since the launch in 2022. As we explore new ways to evolve our loyalty program efforts for the future, we’ll continue to celebrate all of our players through the various community activities we have planned.
Hmmm, right you are, then.
