Would you bring your table to a board game night at friends? Do you have some tabletop space but not enough? Connor Collins is pitching Tabletop Table.
The campaign runs until the 30th of June and needs $125,000 to fund. At the time of writing, they’ve just taken their 100th pledge, which takes them to $55,594 in cash offers. You can see progress on Kickstarter.
I’ve the press release from Connor in which I’m told it’s taken two years to put a table on a tabletop. Credible?
Well, this table does all sorts of clever things, and it’s designed not to break the bank. How clever? This table has a patented design. Here’s the specs;
- Portable: Folds to a compact 23.5″ x 12″ x 3″ with a dedicated carrying bag. Take it to a park for Carcassonne or set it up on your coffee table for Wingspan.
- Versatile/Modular: Choose the Hexlite (23.5″ x 23.5″ play area, $379 on Kickstarter) or Relic (same size, premium hardwood, $799).
- Add extenders for a 23.5″ x 41.5″ setup for Ticket to Ride or combine two extended tables for a 41.5″ x 47.0″ battlefield for Twilight Imperium. Magnetic rails support add-ons like card holders, dice trays, and extenders.
- Durable: Hexlite uses premium polyurethane, while Relic is crafted from furniture-grade hardwood. Both are built to survive travel, even to the far reaches of the ‘verse (If you take it to space please let me know).
- Customizable: Magnetic accessory rails let you tailor your setup for the games you play whether they are more card focused like 7 Wonders or token focused like Scythe. Stretch goals include magnetic toppers with battle grids or Chess boards, with more accessories planned post-Kickstarter.
I think I’m most impressed that the table can fold down small enough to go into a bag and come with you.
As I’ve been there, I know the situation the Tabletop Table is trying to solve. I’ve once lived in a flat where my only table was a small coffee table in front of the TV. It was too low for easy gameplay. This extendable table could have been placed on it.

The first wave of Hexlite (the less fancy ones) is unlocked as campaign rewards at $379 (which is about £286) and is slated to ship this November. Backers can also get two at once by pledging $679.
Alternatively, the first wave of Relic (the fancy version) unlocks at a much higher tier of $799. There is the accompanying $1,489 tier, which gets backers two of those, and people are pledging at that level.
The only other tier, which I think would be a paradox, is for five Hexlite Tabletop Tables, and perhaps for people with no space but lots of space. Someone has backed at that tier, so perhaps they’re setting up a gaming cafe or planning a conference.
All the tiers are limited, but we can imagine a Wave 2 will appear if there’s a swell of backers. The catch? Free shipping is restricted to the USA but the project ships around the world.
