Djura is a new RPG from Turtle and Phoenix Entertainment that’s hit its Kickstarter goal. In the setting, anthropomorphic animals re-explore their world after a near-apocalypse with a living shadow.
In Djura, the technological wonders of the pre-Shadow Veil have become taboo, associated with the disaster. However, they’re being rediscovered as people re-explore this sci-fi fantasy setting. The project is live until the 4th of June on Kickstarter.
The pillars and themes included by the game comprise exploration and discovery, fragments of the last age, and problem-solving, with a particular focus on letting players solve problems their way.
The RPG has more than 90 animal types PCs can be from, 24 career paths and is a complete and standalone RPG.
Djura uses its own dice, d6, d10 and d12 with their own symbols;
- Natural Dice – for unskilled abilities.
- Skilled Dice – for stuff characters have learned.
- Professional Dice – for those things PCs can do at the highest level.
- Critical Dice – bonuses.
Players are taking on the roles of Djura, who are Anthropomorphic animals that can fly or breathe underwater. They can survive extreme winters or scorching deserts. They can be as tiny as a mouse or as large as an elephant. Can your character see, hear, or smell things really well? These things matter and paint a picture of the world players are engaging in. Exploring the world as an animal is one of the most important pillars of this game and its storytelling design.

Backers who pledge $19 can get a set of the Djura dice as a reward.
A digital bundle, which includes the quickstart rules, an adventure and the digital dice, unlocks at $38.
The core rules unlock as a PDF edition for backers at $45, but the dice would need to be picked up as an add-on (of which there are many).
At $60, the hardback of the core rules is the reward. The combo of physical dice and Djura hardcover unlocks at the next tier, which is $78.
Then there’s a $200 tier loaded with print-and-play cards, STL files and digital extras such as the adventure. A $250 tier adds the GM shield and other upgrades.
Turtle and Phoenix Entertainment estimate a January 26 shipping date for the digital products and May for the physical products.
