Cryptic Creative are back on Kickstarter and with a dice box that tempts me even though I have no shortage. On offer is a collection of wooden boxes shaped like tombstones.
The tagline? “A vertical dice vault for a deserving upright person such as yourself.” That’s almost a threat! The crowdfunding campaign as smashed goals and will run until March 18th.
There are twenty engraving options, and my favourite is “They Blinked,” which is a reference to Dr Who Weeping Angel. Each is 5″ tall by 3.2″ wide, enough for a set of 7 dice in the base.
The bases are the same wood as your crypt topper and have chamfered edges so not to be too pokey. The bases are 4x£.
Purpleheart, maple, padauk, mahogany and black walnut wood options are on offer.
From the outside, the graveyard may appear to be deadly quiet. However, our cantankerous crew of ghosts, ghouls, zombies and that one grumpy goblin have not been reposed.
Indeed, this lively gang of un-dead has been haunting many a midnight shift designing a new resting place for your most deserving dice. They are deadly serious for you to get ahead… or perhaps, we should say a headstone…
There are early bird tiers left, so let’s take a look.
Backers at $54 get a headstone and dice combo, but, sadly, shipping is restricted to the USA only.
However, the standard headstone, sans dice, is the worldwide reward for backers at $55.
A premium combo is unlocked for those who pledge $74, but the USA restriction returns.
Once again, for just $1 more and fewer dice, $75 will get international backers the premium headstone.
There are higher tiers and for multiple dice crypts. Cryptic Creative also offers blood-splattered dice as an add-on, giving Kickstarter the whole dead dice a touch of the zombie.
We’ve covered dice crypts from Cryptic before. This Kickstarter has a new twist, but the previous coffin boxes show us that the maker has experience.
The estimated shipping is soon and slated for July this year. However, trade wars and tariffs are beginning to cast their shadow over many delivery dates.
