Trail of Cthulhu is an investigative horror roleplaying game set in the 1930s. Players take on the roles of ordinary people drawn into a world of mystery and horror, where the Cthulhu Mythos is ever-present and menacing. Horrid monsters lurk in dark and forgotten places, while fiendish cults worship Great Old Ones and Outer Gods through blasphemous rituals.
The game supports two styles of play: Purist and Pulp. In Purist mode, players are ordinary people pitted against the Mythos’ power. They must use their wits and courage to survive in a world beyond their comprehension. In Pulp mode, players are heroes in the mold of Indiana Jones. They are larger-than-life figures who can accomplish anything, no matter how daunting the challenge.
