I’m not sure “download” is correct, but D&D Beyond users can claim Spelljammer Academy for free.
It’s an introduction to the Wildspace. That’s a key feature of Spelljammer: Adventures in the Space, the upcoming D&D 5e setting. Spelljammer is an old space-opera setting making its return.
D&D Beyond say;
Spelljammer Academy is a series of four adventures that will prepare you for your journeys into space, and it’s available to you at no cost with your D&D Beyond account. In the first adventure, you’ll undergo your orientation at the Spelljammer Academy, where you’ll learn whether you have what it takes to traverse the deadly expanse of the cosmos.
There will be more. Wizards of the Coast, the new owners for D&D Beyond, have promised that there will be further adventures for Spelljammer Academy. To get those, you must first unlock one adventure and then you’ll automatically get the next.
Additionally, if you claim Spelljammer Academy, you also get the promo material for Spelljammer WotC that has already been put together. This includes searchable listings, a character builder, some encounters and a digital sheet. Essentially, they want to get you deep into the sci-fi world of D&D in space.
Amazon UK currently lists Spelljammer: Adventures in the Space with an August 16 release date. The extensive set retails for about £50 and will introduce new “space backgrounds”, races, new magic and new items across three books.
The rules will help and mechanics for running D&D adventures in Wildspace and the Astral Sea.
In total, in the paid-for set, there will be three books;
This 3-book set comprises:
- The Astral Adventurer’s Guide:
- Boo’s Astral Menagerie:
- Light of Xaryxis
There’s another adventure for characters level 5 to 8, in case you need one after Spelljammer Academy’s contributions.

I just got it, and the web interface for content is really awkward, I don’t think I’ll be using the site. I’ll continue with good old Drivethru.
I think there’s a reason why the press release about Roll20 and Drivethru joining forces called out they have lots of staff devoted to the user experience/web interface…
