Alea Publishing has a Kickstarter for a deck-building TTRPG in which players build their PCs from cards as they adventure. The Iconic Adventuring System still has three weeks to raise money and a campaign target of $1,500.
Geek Native has a preview that’s free to download, but it makes sense to show the video pitch for the whole campaign first. You can pledge support in the usual way from the project page.
If funded, the Basic Rulebook in digital format will have 100+ pages, character creation, 5 pre-made characters and blank character sheets. The rules detail advanced character creation, and the GM section includes Chargin Shadows which is an introductory adventure.
Iconic Weapons and Armour
Joshua Raynack has kindly agreed to let Geek Native readers take a look at some sample pages from the RPG’s core rules. We start with weapons and armour.

The digital Basic is available to backers who support the project with just $5, including a starter set of cards for Tabletop Simulator. Tabletop Simulator is a virtual tabletop with a focus on board and, you guessed it, card games.
Pledges at $10 are the “Pathfinder tier”, which includes those digital offerings, stretch goal cards for Tabletop Simulator and an at-cost link to buy the starter set and stretch goals.
Then, at $15, both the Core rules and Basic rules are included in digital.
There are several tiers, but the one which gets you closest to physical delivery is $25, which has links to at-cost coupons, cards and rules.
Alea estimates that the release date will be in May 2023, noting that’s a careful precautionary one. The actual plan is to release the digital version of the Basic rulebook this summer.
