Kataro Lives Alone: Weirdly, this sombre trailer is for a comedy

Netflix will begin to air Kotaro Lives Alone in March. The anime is based on Mami Tsumura’s manga, and this trailer might leave you wondering what the fuss is about.

It’s not clear that the manga has been so successful there’s been a live-action TV series already, and it’s certainly not evident that this is a comedy.

The series is about a 4-year-old boy who moves into an apartment without family.

His neighbour, a failed manga artist called Shin Karino, notices and is annoyed by the kid at first but begins to understand why Kotaro lives alone.

It’s a Liden Films production and will feature the voice talents of Rie Kugimiya (Kagura in Gintama) as Kotaro and Toshiki Masuda (Eijiro Kirishima in My Hero Academia) as Shin Karino.
