The BBC has confirmed that Sir Michael Gambon will have a significant role in the 2010 Doctor Who Christmas Special.
Gambon, who is probably best known for playing Harry Potter’s Professor Albus Dumbledore, will appear alongside Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins.
She seems pleased, Jenkin’s told the press;
I’m over the moon to be involved in the Doctor Who Christmas Special!’ Katherine said. ‘I can’t quite believe it as it’s a part of the family tradition at the Jenkins household. I heard the news that I got the role on my 30th birthday and it was the best birthday present ever!’
The Christmas Special will star Matt Smith as the Doctor, Karen Gillan and Amy and Arthur Darvill will return as Rory.
(P.S. Perhaps Gambon’s most famous for giving the name to the ‘Gambon’ corner in Top Gear… thoughts?)
