Rollinkunz, creator of Fragnarok, has a card system to help you design dungeons.
To bring the Dungenerator to life, the inky artist has created one of my favourite Kickstarter pitch videos this year. I’m not the only one who likes what they see, Rollinkunz asked for $1,500 to fund the project and with 21 days still to go there’s over $12,000 pledged! You can join in on Kickstarter.
It’s a straight forward system; line up the cards from the entry point so that the passageways connect and if this causes the cards to overlap, remove the offending card and flip the previous one over to seal the dungeon there.
The result? Random dungeons with a twistier and more organic feel than you’d get from all those carefully aligned square tiles.
A digital deck is yours for $5 but to get the first physical deck, complete with a tuck box to put the cards in, you need to step up to $16.
You can get more decks, but they don’t get discounted. $32 is enough for two decks and $96 for six.
You won’t have long to wait for this project as Rollinkunz is boldly predicting delivery of December 2020.
Add-ons include some of the talented illustrator’s goblin stickers, secret doors and even a goblinfinite goblin generator. What’s a goblinfinite goblin generator? Well, I’m not entirely sure, but Rollinkunz says it can generate trillions of system-agnostic goblins.
