Greenwich Entertainment has dropped the trailer for an anime that feels profound, unique and important. Jinsei is a fully handcrafted film that seems unlike anything else that’s currently out there, and therefore… not one to ignore.
We’re not only talking about a deeply personal project by filmmaker Ryuya Suzuki that covers the topics of identity, time, and what living a full life truly means… Suzuki also handled the directing, writing, editing, music, and every single frame of animation himself.
This was a labour of love, and it shows. The story itself follows a character over 100 years, through different identities, roles and other character shifts… and throughout his life, no-one ever uses his real name.
According to the official synopsis:
From birth to death, each person goes through life with a variety of nicknames, and sometimes derogatory. This is an epic feature animation that follows the tumultuous 100-year life of ‘the man who was never called by his real name.’

Jinsei had its premiere at the Annecy Film Festival before screening at the Tokyo Film Festival, where the buzz really began to build with anime fans.
The film is now making its way to select US theatres via Greenwich Entertainment, with a limited release planned for 5th June, 2026. Will it make it to the UK? I sincerely hope so, and fingers crossed Scotland Loves Anime may be my chance to see it on the big screen!
