I’m now a backer of Late Knight Games’ project as I think there’s a nice new take on a traditional RPG here. [Back this Campaign] Dan Coleman and Jonathan Barron of Late Knight coordinated with me over email. In this […]

Would you trust this Squirtle?

December 29, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Would you trust this Squirtle with your fire prevention responsibilities? She looks a little evil to me. Look at her eyes and compare that to the standard Squirtle plush and there are clearly differences. Ask yourself where the fire extinguisher went? Scary. Not as scary as this Grimlified Squirtle, though.

Worth more? Old Charizard Pokemon cards or 50s Barbie? [Infographic]

December 18, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood 2 Comments

Bingo site Two Little Fleas has been inspired by old Pokemon cards selling on eBay for £1,200 (and there are many scary prices for cards on Ebay). They’ve also been driven by the need to get in touch with gamers. The result? An infographic that worth of old toys if you were to sell them today. […]

Relive the best of 2014’s gaming in under 2 minutes

December 14, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Malcolm Klock has put together this montage of some of the great games of 2014. He stresses that if your favourite game is missing it will probably due to editing rather than it not being worthy. I think the final montage is neat. It’s both dramatic and beautiful. It has, as Klock says, been an […]

Zombie Pokemon for your nightmares

November 29, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

These two horrible alternative Pokemon are the love-children of artists J.R. Coffron and Stephen Oakley. Pikachu is pretty scary as a brain eating undead monster. Weezing is far, far, worse, though. You can imagine running from this monstrous Weezing as a level boss in a survival horror gets the drop on you.

10 urban myths of gaming [infographic]

September 8, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

What computer game myths do you know? Are any of them believable? In fairness to the team at Liberty Games, who put this piece together, the Luigi’s Mansion myth is believable and it’s the sort of secret twist that’s in keeping with the company even if not the game franchise.

Gotta mash them all! DC superheroes as Pokemon trainers

August 16, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Imagine if some DC superheroes took up Pokemon and became trainers? That’s exactly what creative student Creees (HyunSung Lee) has done. While studying comic art he’s created a mashup of two favourite topics and added some pocket monster action to the heroes. Creees says he’s striving to become an awesome DC or Marvel comic artist. […]
