October 31, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The Ghostbusters turned 30 this year. It’s Halloween. Eclectic Method saw a chance to hit two bats with one pumpkin and released this remix. Expect a thorough remake of the classic, Zuul, the coming of Gozer and the Stay Puft Marshmallow man.

The 12 Masks of Halloween: #1 Slimer head

October 19, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

There’s a little ritual Geek Native likes to perform in the run up to Halloween. It’s called The 12 Masks of Halloween and simply showcases a mask a day as we get closer to the night of screams. Sunday the 19th means 12 days takes us up to the 30th and the 31st is the […]

Weapon redesign – minimalist splatter style

June 13, 2014 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is a wonderful way to turn iconic weapons into art. The Etsy store Harshness sells these designs as prints. If they’re out then a backup retailer is the artist’s Society6 page. The two styles are almost a contradiction. The splatter effect suggests that the weapons could be messy and cluttered and yet that’s not […]

Sexy monster calendar for 2014?

December 12, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Want something different for your office wall this year? I think The Calendar of Sexy Monsters would be perfect. Except, well, when I say “sexy monsters” we’re not really even edging into hentai territory. These sexy monsters are spoof, not sexy at all, just plain silly – but remarkable, different and discussion worthy. They can […]

Dog Shaming – Ghostbuster level

October 24, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Not familiar with dog shaming? It’s a cute meme in which dogs are shamed (but rarely) named for the bag things they’ve done. The format is simple; a card with the crime, the dog and a photograph of the two together. Is this a Tumblr? Why, yes, of course – dogshaming.tumblr.com. You won’t see Ghostbuster […]

Never nag a geek into babysitting

August 5, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

If you nag a friendly geek into babysitting then you may have made a mistake. The first thing you should do is check any gifts they may have given you in recent weeks. Check for hauntings. Check for any sign of the 16th-century occult lord Vigo Von Homburg Deutschendorf. Failure means you’ll get send pictures […]

It’s a trap…

April 10, 2013 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

You’d expect this post to feature Admiral Ackbar. He owns “It’s a trap”. What sort of trap, though? That’s the question. This t-shirt even comes with a backstory. The government doesn’t pay very much out in pensions anymore – especially after you’ve just overthrown it. A Mon Calamari needs to eat, needs to earn some […]
