July 31, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Artist Ïve Bastrash has a portfolio worth checking out. He’s only been on Deviant Art for a week but gallery is already making an impact. His website describes a passion for art and drawing – Bastrash has been able to explore many different techniques but his favourite remains comics. This collection is a set of […]

Can you really make giant maps from commerical banners?

July 31, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood 2 Comments

About a month ago, a company called Banners on the Cheap got in touch with me. One customer used their service to make a giant RPG map. The banner company makes those large vinyl banners that shops sometimes use to display sales or business-as-usual messages. I thought it was an interesting idea but didn’t need […]

July 31, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

The news around the plucky Android based console start-up Ouya keeps on coming. First we had news of an OnLive partnership. Now there’s the discovery that Final Fantasy will be a launch title for the device. Final Fantasy III, that is. This will be the first time gamers outside of Japan have had the chance […]

A life sized Warhammer 40K Servo-Skull

July 30, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

In Warhammer 40K Servo-skulls are robotically enhanced skills that hover behind their owners. They are used in lots of ways; from a simple floating torch all the way through to Inquisitors using them as Familiars. The Deviant Artist Spooky 777 has taken a medical skull model and given it the Warhammer 40,000 treatment. This is […]

Cover of the Ducktales Theme song

July 30, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Do you remember Disney’s Duck Tales? It was a classic of the 80s – although the 101 episodes finished in 1990. The action followed Scrooge McDuck and his grandnephews Huey, Dewey and Louie with characters like Donald Duck being a secondary appearance at nest. Typically, the grandnephews would rally around to stop an enemy like Magica De Spell or […]

Stunning video trailer for Cold & Dark

July 29, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Geek Native has been keeping a close eye on Cold & Dark, a new RPG from Wicked World Games and one of the first to be backed by Chronicle City. Cold & Dark promises a grim and gritty sci-fi RPG. Think Mass Effect. It also promises great art and visuals. This video is an example of the Wicked World talent.

Monstrous Zoid larva

July 29, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Do you remember Zoids? They were robotic creatures that you had to build yourself by attaching plastic to plastic, screwing in caps and making sure all the hinges and joins worked well. Later on there was a computer game and even an anime series.

Steampunk NERF gun

July 29, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Take a NERF N-Strike Barricade RV-10 and then re-work it completely. Etsy shop operator Faustus70 stepped up to the challenge, adding cut planks of wood from an old chair, a scope, access pannels so you can get to any jams and building, in their words, a big daddy of a steampunk NERF gun. “You won’t […]

Wall mounted Back to the Future DeLorean and train set

July 29, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

What do you do with the tops of your walls? Sure; you could put books up there but it can be pretty hard to reach. Trooper Trent solved this problem in the geekiest way but building a suspended set of train tracks for a model train to run over. That’s pretty cool. It gets better, […]

Hey There Cthulhu

July 29, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Hey There Cthulhu is a special song. By Eben Brooks the song is a classic. The photomontage video appeared on YouTube just over four years ago – and now has over a million plays. I’m not sure there are a million people in the world today who have actually read an H.P. Lovecraft book. I […]
