New NEO – site revamps ahead of 100th edition

April 9, 2012 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

NEO Magazine is the UK’s longest running publication for anime, manga and Asian culture. The magazine founded in 2004 and will soon reach it’s eight anniversary and publish its 100th issue. That’s worth knowing because Uncooked Media, the owners, are planning on running a series of competitions online to celebrate. However, today’s anime fans – […]

Streamago to revive unboxing, boost video reviews and artists?

May 31, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood 1 Comment

Streamago is a new site from the European ISP Tiscali and the proposition is straight forward and bound to be attractive to a whole range of people. Streamago is a live streaming service. It lets you use your webcam – no extra software required to create your own, real time, video broadcast. Streamago supports the […]

RolePlayMedia Network closes

May 2, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood 2 Comments

Berin Kinsman, aka UncleBear, has shuttered the RolePlayMedia Network. The site was a community for RPG bloggers, pocasters, YouTube hosts and their audience. The goal of the network was to be more than an aggregator of feeds – to be a community. The network was powered by Ning and while neither this blogger nor this […]

Keep Anime Alive

January 17, 2011 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Run by the Anime Defense Project, Keep Anime Alive is trying to sustain the industry by proving that fans will buy anime rather than only download illegal copies. The two masterminds attempting to pull this off are Colin Harvie and Chris Perry. They should be thanked and we should accept it’s early days for these […]

Tron’s Flynn hidden in code

September 13, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

This is a nice, simple but effective touch from the designers of Tron Soundtrack site. Flynn, Jeff Bridges’ character, is hidden in the code. All they’ve done is used HTML comments to enclose some ASCII art. It works really well though.

MMO-Champion sold to Curse

July 20, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Major League Gaming have sold MMO-Champion to Curse.com for an undisclosed sum. This likely represents MLG getting rid of none core assets to try and increase liquidity and Curse.com, very much, continuing on their “ooh, they look successful; buy them!” spree. MMO-Champion’s CEO Fabien Bonte will be joining Curse. They’ve promised a redesign of MMO-Champion […]

Titan Books launches new site – celebrates with exclusive FireFly pictures (via @titanbooks)

July 19, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Titan Books, who publish a wide range of must-read geek material, have a shiny new website.  The design of it very much reminds me of a professional blog. That’s a good thing in my opinion. It’s more than just a shop window. In fact, it looks like Titan is simply linking through to Amazon in […]

Steampunk Ghostbusters – The League of STEAM hunt vampires

July 2, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

I think I’d pay people good money to go disrupt a queue for anyone waiting to see anything in the Twilight franchise. I think it’s especially funny when these guys do it. S.T.E.A.M, by the way, is the Supernatural and Troublesome Ectoplasmic Apparitional Mangement. Are they worth calling out? Firstly, you could check out their […]

I’m a hat. On a cat. Best Looking for Group joke…

January 29, 2010 by Andrew Girdwood Leave a Comment

Best Looking for Group joke… in ages. Not since “For Pony!” has Richard been so droll. This is a micro-review of the gaming comic sensation that is Looking for Group. What began as a gamer comic designed to reflect on MMOs quickly grew legs, took its independance and started the fan machine. A lot of […]
