There are new Star Trek shows coming and Giant Freaking Robot has two sources that have convinced them one of the new shows will be Captain Pike in the Enterprise.
They’ve run the story as “Exclusive: Captain Pike And The Enterprise To Be Star Trek’s Next Show” but there are complications.
Anson Mount has made it clear he would happily consider coming back as Captain Pike, but he’s believed to be out of contact. Additionally, Giant Freaking Robot’s own sources point there’s no deal yet. The Star Trek Captain Pike show is the goal, it’s something they’re working on to make happen, but it’s not over the line yet.
ViacomCBS has announced two additional Star Trek shows, and so there’s every reason to trust in Giant Freaking Robot and both their sources. Anson Mount made a success of Pike and fans took to him warmly.
Also in the works is Star Trek: Section 31 (name to be confirmed) which features Michelle Yeoh in her new role among the Federation’s dodgy black ops unit.
There’s also the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks and still-untitled series due on Nickelodeon as well.
