In the past we’ve wondered whether we’ve had archery all wrong with demonstrations of how old styles were both quick and powerful. There’s never been a suggestion we’ve underplayed the skill of swordsmanship in RPGs, though. We know that some of the high action stunts we see on TV are appropriate to cinematic style RPGs and that’s about it. After all, the Mythbusters showed you can’t stop a sword with a palm block.
So does that mean a samurai wouldn’t be able to slice a baseball in two as it comes at him at 160km?
The sword is sheathed before the ball is launched. Watch to the end for the slowmo shot.
