Arcknight’s Kickstarter is over x5 times funded and they’ve 15 days to go (at the time of writing). What’s got roleplayers so interested? Flat plastic miniatures.
Flat Plastic Miniatures; just in case it wasn’t clear from the pitch video.
The attractions are pretty clear; they’re cheaper, more robust and edge higher up the “actual model” scale than paper minis.
As the flat plastic miniatures aren’t as expensive to make Arcknight are able to produce a longer tail of models. This means we’ll get items, villagers and less dramatic pieces along with the key heroes and villains.
This is a EU-friendly project. Rewards bound for the EU have no extra custom charges. So let’s look at some of the pledge levels. The first packet unlocks at the $25 – free to ship in the US, shipping for elsewhere (but no customs for the EU) – and you get one packet of minis and one panel of bases. $50 gets you twice as much but at $75 you’ll gain access to all the miniature packs made by the Kickstarter with two panels of bases. There are 460 backers at this $75 level.
My group did this with Shrinky Dink plastic, several years ago… works pretty well, really.
